The River is Back!
If you have been longing for the good old days when the rivers ran high and the waves were huge, don't miss out on a rafting trip this year. Snow pack in the North Cascades is going to make this year the most exciting white water season we have had in years.
Let us show you the Methow River at its best - exciting rapids, endless roller coaster waves and plenty of wet, wild fun. For the best white water thrills, plan on coming from mid-May through early July. Family trips will be great all summer long - wilder in June and milder in July and August. If you want to try out our inflatable kayaks, we will be bringing them along on our family trips from mid-July through August.
As always we will be offering white water trips for the whole family on the beautiful Skagit River in the North Cascades National Park from July through October. See you on the river!
How River Levels Apply To Our Trips
RIVER LEVELS: 800cfs - 2000cfs good for mellow whitewater on Gold Creek run.
RIVER LEVELS: 2000cfs - 3000cfs wilder ride on Gold Creek run. Fairly mellow Black Canyon run.
RIVER LEVELS: 3000 - 8000cfs Great for wild ride on Gold Creek or Black Canyon!
RIVER LEVELS: 8000 - 12000cfs BIG water rides on Black Canyon. A real rush!
River Classifications
Class 1: Moving water, small waves, some maneuvering.
Class 2: Easy rapids, clear channels waves less then 3 ft.
Class 3: High irregular waves, narrow passages, complex moves.
Class 4: Long difficult rapids, req. precise maneuvering in turbulent waters.
Class 5: Extremely difficult, long violent rapids. Highly congested routes.
Class 6: Nearly Impossible + very dangerous

What is the appropriate age for the trip I would like to experience?

Some Basic Guidelines-
Black Canyon-Never recommend for kids under age 8
Gold Creek-Never recommend for kids under age 4
Should we leave our pet at meeting spot?
No!!! The lower valley is very hot and it is not appropriate to leave an animal in your vehicle. There are two pet boarding facilities in the valley.
Should I tip my guide?
YES! Tips are accepted and appreciated. Guides are working very hard to make sure your trip is wonderful. Please show your appreciation. 10-20% of trip cost is appropriate.
What should I do with my valuables while on trip?
Don’t bring anything you don’t feel comfortable locking in you vehicle. Meeting spot is safe but why take undo risks.
IIs there a medical reason I shouldn’t go on trip?
There can be. Heart issues, pregnancy, etc. Please give us a call. We are ADA capable and we want everyone to be able to experience the Methow.
Can I drop my children off?
We prefer to have at least one parent on trips with children. Depending upon the age of the children we may require a legal guardian be with them.
Can I bring my own lifejacket?
No. We have lifejackets for you that are high float and Coast Guard approved.
Can I bring my own boat and follow you?
We are open to helping you guide yourself…however, in the end this is precisely what you are doing, guiding yourself. Please give me a call. We need to know about your experience and training.
Can we customize the trip to meet specific need?
Of course. If you need a later or early start time, shorter trip, etc., please give us a call. We will do whatever we can to accommodate.
Can we bring STUFF on the trip?
We can accommodate to a reasonable degree. Boats are small and we are going to limit gear. No towels, street shoes, headphones, TV’s, ipods, etc. You don’t need them!
Is rafting dangerous?
Like every outdoor activity there is inherent risk involved. This is why we provide you with great guides, gear, and knowledge. Limiting the risk is what we do…and provide lots of fun.
Does Osprey River Adventures offer trips on the other rivers in the valley?
No we don’t. The Twisp and Chewuch Rivers are both dangerous rivers that are inappropriate for commercial trips. We strongly recommend that you give us a call before attempting either tribuatary.
